On May 2, 2011, Robert Lawler landed a huge 5.55 pound, 16.75-inch redear sunfish (shellcracker) while fishing in Arizona’s Lake Havasu.
The behemoth panfish had a 19-inch girth. Lawler used a Texas-rigged 7-inch Power Worm. The unbelievable catch is a thought to be a contender for a world record.
Oddly enough, redear sunfish feed on invasive quagga mussels, which may have been part of the enormous fish’s diet.
